Kazuyoshi Miura joins Fukushima United on temporary transfer

Kazuyoshi Miura has completed a temporary transfer to Fukushima United until June, giving the 58-year-old forward another opportunity to play in Japan’s professional football system. The move could take him back into the J.League for the first time in five years. Miura, widely known in Japan as “King Kazu”, began his professional career with Santos in 1986 and is preparing for a 41st season as a professional footballer. He spent last season on loan with JFL side Atletico Suzuka, making seven appearances and playing just over an hour in total without scoring.

The transfer represents Miura’s fourth temporary move since 2022 from Yokohama FC, the club he joined in 2005. He has not played for Yokohama since 2020, while his career has also included spells in Italy, Croatia and Australia. Miura said his love for football had not changed with age and pledged to contribute “with all my heart”. His arrival gives Fukushima a globally recognised veteran and keeps alive one of Japanese football’s most enduring playing careers, although his involvement will depend on selection and fitness during the loan period.
