Rennes sold Switzerland striker Breel Embolo to Atlanta United in a deal reportedly worth around $18 million, the MLS club announced on Sunday. The 29-year-old signed a contract running through the 2029-30 MLS season and took a Designated Player roster spot. Embolo joined Atlanta shortly after the club loaned Emmanuel Latte Lath to Union Berlin. He left Rennes after featuring for Switzerland at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored twice as the team reached the quarter-finals.

Atlanta sporting director Chris Henderson said the club valued Embolo’s experience, goal contributions and ability to link play in attack. Across his decade-plus European career, the striker recorded 100 goals and 66 assists in 380 professional matches, according to the reports announcing the transfer. His departure removes an experienced attacking option from Rennes, who had already begun their Ligue 1 season by taking a 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain. Atlanta, meanwhile, have made Embolo one of the costliest incoming transfers in MLS history as they seek greater attacking output.

RB Leipzig have reportedly submitted a €35 million offer to Lille for winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo, according to Crypto Briefing. The 21-year-old Belgian has attracted interest from several European clubs after emerging as one of Lille’s breakout players. Atlético Madrid were also reported to have made an offer of €35m around August 10 or 11, while Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham were named among the other clubs monitoring the situation. Lille were reportedly seeking closer to €70m, leaving a substantial gap between the asking price and the bids described.

Fernandez-Pardo was reported to have submitted a transfer request in late July as he pushed for a summer move. Lille had signed him back from KAA Gent two years earlier for a reported €10m plus add-ons, meaning a sale at the club’s valuation could represent a considerable return. The winger’s situation adds another layer to Lille’s transfer activity after the reported agreement to sell Ayyoub Bouaddi to Manchester City.
