Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang agreed to buy an 87.8 per cent stake in Olympique Lyonnais from John Textor’s Eagle Football Group. Kang’s Olympe Bidco SAS will pay $30 million (£23 million) for the controlling share and has pledged up to €71 million (£60.8 million) in fresh capital over the next two seasons. The agreement remains subject to conditions, including Lyon retaining their place in Ligue 1, and is expected to close by 30 June. Kang will then file a tender offer for the remaining shares, potentially ending Textor’s ownership of the French club.

The proposed deal would bring a major change of direction for Lyon after a turbulent period under Textor’s multi-club structure. The investment commitment is intended to strengthen the organisation over the next two campaigns, while the Ligue 1 condition underlines the seriousness of the club’s current position. A completed takeover would also separate Lyon from Textor’s wider football interests, which include stakes in Brazilian club Botafogo and Belgium’s RWDM Brussels. Until the conditions are satisfied, the transaction remains an agreement rather than a completed change of ownership.

Liverpool announced the signing of Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola on Monday in a deal reported at an initial €125 million (£106 million), with a further €20 million (£17 million) in achievable bonuses. The total package was widely reported at about £124 million, making the 23-year-old the Premier League club’s second-most expensive signing behind Alexander Isak.
